Styling Experience

I have been lucky enough that this summer I have been able to assist a very talented stylist on photo shoots. I am so happy that Claire of Justified By Jemo allowed me to assist her even though the first shoot I was on was a challenge.

The first shoot I was on with her was in Howth in Dublin for a swimwear shoot and it really was an experience to see the workings of a photoshoot. I found out that day that fashion is not all glitz and glamour, sometimes it involves climbing up hills then down the sides of cliffs and getting dirt all over you but the end product makes it all worth while. We used some lovely swimwear from ASOS, Boohoo and some high street stores too. The photograper was Muhammad Sami (his facebook page is here) who is so talented it was amazing to watch him work and the final pictures looked amazing. On this shoot we had a very talented model Vanessa Deegan (facebook page here). We shot this first look down the side of a cliff where it was freezing, Vanessa was so cold but as soon as she got in front of the camera you could not tell that one minute ago she was shaking with the cold. She is such a talented model and I am so happy I got the chance to work with her.

The second shoots I assisted Claire on took place in the Fitzwilliam Hotel on St.Stephens Green in Dublin city center where the staff was so nice and cooperative with us on the day. This shoot was a bit more of a comfy shoot as there was no need to climb down the sides of cliffs. Again I assisted Clare and the photographer was Muhammad Sami. This time it centered around a male model Tim of first options modeling agency.This was more of a formal ware shoot with amazing dresses and suits which matched the surroundings perfectly. We used suits and items from Louis Copland, Tommy Hilfiger, and Debenhams. For the Female model Claire picked some amazing dresses from Debenhams, Jenny Packham at Debenhams and Coast. This shoot was so much fun despite the heat in the hotel room that day and Tim was so talented it was amazing watching him work. I can not wait to see the final pictures but for now here are some behind the scenes snaps that I took!

I have to say I have caught the photoshoot bug.  I have learned so much assisting Claire and I would love to assist more in the future if I get the chance. It is hard to walk through the busy city with lots of bags which contain expensive clothes but it is so worth it to be part of something so creative.
