Watched It Wednesday: To Write Love On Her Arms Movie

To Write Love On Her Arms is a movie I have been looking forward to for a long time. This movie is based on the journey of Renne Yohe from addict to inspiration. For those of you who are not familiar with the organisation TWLOHA I will tell you a bit about it.

This organisation is the result of people loving their one friend so much they would do anything to help her. Renne Yohe was a youth battling addiction, depression and self-harm. TWLOHA is based in Florida and the aim of the non-profit organisation is to help people with their problems by directing them to helplines, treatment centers, website and much more. As they are non-profit they give their donations to various organisations similar to them. The organisation gained a lot of its publicity through major bands such as Boys Like Girls, Paramore, A Day To Remember, The Rocket Summer, Between The Trees (who actually wrote 2 songs about Renne 'A Time For Yohe' and 'The way She Feels') and many more.

This movie is so moving and emotional. When people have an addiction or disorder or self-harm they can feel like no one is there for them, they feel like they are all alone with no one to turn to. Renne's friends cared enough for her that they were willing to do anything that had to be done to get her back and get her healthy. This movie is a record of her last five days before she was allowed into a treatment center. It shows the ups, the downs, the happy, the sad and the truth of what someone can go through on this journey, and Kat Dennings portrays this in the most perfect way.

Renne is an inspiration to anyone in the same situation. She is proof that you can get control over all the vices that are in your life. Sure you will never be 'normal' but come on who is really normal anyway, you can start to control your life you just have to want it enough.

Over all I would give this film 9/10, it lost a mark as I did not think it would be so triggering for me as it was. I guess that is a sign that it is a good, hard hitting movie. I would advise that if you have or have had any problems with your mental health be warned that the movies is graphic enough that it could trigger you, it did me and I have been better for the best part of 4 years now. It is an amazing watch and I cried most of the way through it. It is a movie that I will watch multiple times as it is such a real portrayal.
