Things You're Not Told About: Relationships!

Over the course of your life there is every possibility that you may have to kiss multiple frogs before you find your prince, unless you are one of those lucky ones where you find your prince charming early on in life of course. Luckily I am one of the girls who did not have to kiss a whole bunch of frogs before I found my prince (I still had to kiss a few though). However, even when you do find the Prince not everything will run smoothly all the time.

1. Trust issues. If like me you have been hurt by guys that you were romantically involved with in the past or even your guy friends, you are much more likely to take longer to fall for a guy. Take your time, if it is real it will happen.

2. The course of true love never does run smoothly. When you find someone that you care for more than you do for yourself (besides your family of course) you will be willing to do anything for them. But will they always be willing to do the same? There is always the chance that your family won't like them, or your friends don't think that they are good enough for you, but if they can see how happy you are they will be willing to have your back and be there for you when you need them.

3. Opposites attract? There is always the chance that this can be true. You can be the most uptight, anal person in the world and you could fall for the most sloppy, most laid back person on the planet and there is a chance that you can balance each other out. However, on the other hand you could end up tearing each other apart.

4. Similars attract? There is as much a chance of you finding someone that is the same as you, as there is of you finding someone who is the polar opposite. In my experience this can be worse than someone that is the complete opposite of you. If you find someone as stubborn as you and as opinionated as you, there could be a lot of conflict in the future. However, there is always an exception to the rules.

5. Seeing yourself as your partner does. I think this can happen in a lot of relationships. There is always that one person who can not see in themselves what their partner sees in them. If they are with you they obviously see something in you that you don't, so take their word for it when they tell you that you look good in your jeans, or that they love when you get all nervous when you meet new people. They love you for a reason, you just have to start seeing in yourself what they see in you.

6. There will be disagreements. After the honeymoon stage there will be disagreements and you will start to notice things that bug you about your partner, but if you love them you are willing to work at the relationship, forgive each other and remember why you are with them. Even sometimes you will have to agree ti disagree.

7. You have to work at your relationship. Relationships that last for decades don't just happen. I know people say that relationships should be effortless but they are not really. You always need to keep in mind that compromises and tough decisions will have to be made. No one can go from meeting their love to the day they die without some kind of conflict or effort.

8. Keep things fresh. I believe that this is a really important thing in relationships. It is natural that you can get stuck in the rut of  sitting in on a Saturday night, watching Netflix in your pj's on the sofa with take out, but when you have done it for 2 months in a row you really need to reevaluate things. Maybe once a month you have date night doing something different then Netflix and the sofa.

9. Getting to know the friends. This sometimes can be more scary that getting the family to like you, as a lot of the time the friends have more pull with your partner than his family would. This is not the easiest thing to do when you are a shy girl like myself. Another thing that can happen is you could get on better with the guys than the girls in his group of friends and this is okay. Sometimes you just have to accept that you are seen as one of the guys, but this can come in handy at times.

10. Don't forget your friends. This can happen when you find the One and you spend a lot of time with them and their friends. Your friends you have had for years are going to be the ones who will always be there for you whether the relationship lasts 5 mins or 75 years. Your friends will always have your back and look out for your best interests. They won't be afraid to kick a little butt if they have to either.
